Classic Music Company head honcho Luke Solomon has announced the return of his Powerdance collective, with the release of new album Powerdance II.
Set to land at the end of this month, the album follows on from the 2017 Powerdance debut album, The Lost Art of Getting Down, which featured Al Doyle (Hot Chip/LCD Soundsystem), Alinka, Danny ‘Moodymanc’ Ward, Amy Douglas and Terry Grant.
This time round, the cast list – barring collaborators Lance Desardi and Chris Penny – is shrouded in mystery, but the vibe is the same, with contributing producers ‘jumping onboard the dub disco train and taking a psychedelic trip to party town’, as a press release put it.
The seven-track album features the tracks Powertime, Body Music, Things To Do, Dancing In Outer Space, Icarus, Mystery Love and Power Love, and will be released on limited vinyl and Bandcamp digital on 28 March.
As well as running Classic Music Company, Solomon is a Grammy Award winner, Honey Dijon co-producer/writer and music supervisor for the upcoming Saturday Church Musical.
“The legion of boogie down return for part 2 – this time with a trip on the dub fantastic disco train,” as Solomon put it. “Hold on to your shoes – it’s one psychedelic riiide…” You can pre-order the album here.
