Decal was one of the defining acts of Ireland‘s electro and techno scene in the 90s and early 2000s, and now, close to two decades on from the last Decal release, a new album is on the way, entitled The Echoes Are Decoys.

Originally a two-piece, featuring Alan O’Boyle and Dennis McNulty, Decal is now a solo endeavour helmed by O’Boyle – who has been releasing under the name Of One in recent years.

The album, which is set to be released on Front End Synthetics on 21 February, features 13 tracks, Freekin Failures, Eject, Wasted In Region, All Night, Lateral Shift, In The Absence Of Sense, Oceans, Slowly Melting Away, Worms, Coast II, Kill This Space, Broken Bells and A Very Simple Cure.

According to the label, it features a variety of sounds synonymous with Decal, from melodic electro on Coast II, to Detroit-esque techno on Kill This Space, to the ‘blissful and banging’ Freekin Failures.

Decal previously released on labels such as Sabrettes, Planet-Mu and Rotters Golf Club, with Front End Synthetics adding that it ‘feels very privileged’ to be putting out the latest album. ‘It’s safe to say the electro world has been looking forward to this album for some time, and won’t be disappointed,’ they added.
