Liquid Wheel have announced the release of a remastered edition of Blue, the single that established them as Irish dance music standard-bearers some 30 years ago.
Set for release on 6 December 2024 across all streaming platforms, the re-released Blue will be backed by a host of remixes from Mr. Spring, Dec Pierce/Flash the Delivery Guy, Dean Sherry and Tiny Magnetic Pets, as well as fresh remixes from Liquid Wheel themselves.
“Marking 30 years of Blue feels surreal,” commented Paul O’Hara of Liquid Wheel. “This track defined a moment in time for us, and we’re excited to give it new life — not just for our long-time fans, but also for those discovering it for the first time.
“This will be the start of a project to make all our releases available, including lots of unreleased material. In the meantime, enjoy these new mixes!”
Blue was first released on Red Records back in 1994, kickstarting a series of hit singles from Liquid Wheel, including Strobonic Injection, Intelligent Radio Signals, Bloodclot and Dirty Bishop.
Earlier this year, 909originals caught up with Liquid Wheel’s Paul O’Hara, Lar Doyle and Jay Oglesby to talk about their career, and their plans to re-release Blue.
“After 30 years, we’re still together,” Oglesby said at the time. “We’re doing new music all the time. But when we realised it was 30 years since Blue, it was a bit of a frightener, actually. It was good to mark it in some way, even just for ourselves.”
