Chip E, one of the original pioneers of Chicago house music, is set to release a new single, Work That Body featuring Missy, on Jack Said What.
Released on 31 July, and coinciding with the 40th anniversary of Chicago house music, the release of Work That Body follows on from a remix Chip E undertook for Steve Mac’s latest album, of the track Jack Said What. You can pre-order it here.
Steve Mac returns the favour with a remix of Work That Body, which accompanies the new release.
Chip E’s career began in the early 1980s as a DJ in Chicago. His 1985 Jack Trax EP was one of the first to feature the terms ‘jack’ and ‘house’, which were central to the burgeoning house music movement, while tracks like It’s House and Time To Jack played significant roles in popularising the jackin’ dance style that swept across Chicago and beyond.
He co-produced Frankie Knuckles’s first record and was later recognised by Carl Cox as a pivotal figure in house music. This recognition led to collaborations, including a Time 2 Jack update and appearances at Cox’s parties, including one at ADE where Chip E met Steve Mac and Carl Loben, sparking a friendship that has now brought forth this new release.
Chip E feat Missy – Work That Body is released on 31 July on Jack Said What.
