French DJ and producer Nicolas Masseyeff has made a name for himself over a 25-plus year career with releases on labels such as Crosstown Rebels, Herzblut Recordings and his own Diversions Music imprint, as well as becoming a favourite of artists such as Laurent Garnier, Kittin and Oxia.
His latest release is the Taian EP, on Diversions Music, a two-track release that sees ‘warm textures and melodic layers intertwine with a subtle Detroit-inspired spirit’, according to a press release. You can check that out here.
For this week’s #MyRecordBag, Masseyeff explores the melodic side of house and techno, beginning with one of the tracks from his new EP.
Nicolas Masseyeff – Harunohi (Diversions Music)
“Harunohi came from a hypnotic organ groove that stayed in my mind for a long time. It’s a very instinctive track, built around repetition and energy, designed for the club moments. It really reflects the direction I’m developing right now.”
Tal Fussman – Higher! (Cod 3QR)
“Tal Fussman has a very direct way of building tension and atmosphere. Higher! is raw and effective, with a physical energy that works instantly on the dancefloor. I love its approach.”
Radio Slave feat. Kameelah Waheed – All Rize (DJ Minx Remix) (Rekids)
“DJ Minx delivers a stripped-back, percussive take that leans into a more techno-driven approach while keeping a strong groove. I love the flow of this track — it rolls effortlessly and works perfectly when you want something hypnotic yet physical on the floor.”
Oliver Dollar & ADMN – Sanctuary feat. Mr. V (Bendersnatch 313 Dub) (Industry Standard)
“This dub version is raw and powerful, with a deep, hypnotic groove that hits hard while still feeling elegant. Mr. V adds that timeless, human touch, and it’s the kind of track I love to play when the crowd is already fully locked in and ready to ride the energy.”
Cloonee – How Deep Are Your Dreams (You&Me Records)
“This track is raw and incredibly groovy — the voices, the TB bassline, the rhythm, everything works perfectly together. Cloonee keeps it accessible but full of character, and the groove hits just right to maintain energy on the floor without ever feeling obvious.”
Rocco Rodamaal – The Tunnel (REK’D)
“I love the message and the groove of this track. The Tunnel feels hypnotic and deep, with a tension that keeps you locked in — perfect for those darker, immersive moments in a set.”
Jesuslovesacid – Verbal (Mathew Jonson Remix) (Rhythm Cult)
“Mathew Jonson brings his organic sensibility here. The remix feels alive and breathing, with a free-flowing structure that escapes standard formats. I love it for its unpredictability.”
Chris Gruber – Just A Feeling (8bit Records)
“This is a true dancefloor track that I absolutely love — the groove is irresistible, and it just makes people move. Just A Feeling really delivers on its name, creating that instant connection on the floor.”
Loopsize – Drum Heart (Cod 3QR)
“The piano riff carries you through the entire track, making it impossible to sit still. Drum Heart is a true dancefloor killer — highly rhythmic, raw, and built to hit hard at peak-time moments. I play it whenever I can, I absolutely love it.”
Julius Strieder – New York Feelings (8bit Records)
“An elegant, warm track with real atmosphere. New York Feelings evokes a timeless, urban house sound — perfect for letting a set breathe without losing momentum.”
