Legendary club Sankeys set to return to Manchester

Following a nine-year absence, Sankeys is returning to Manchester with a new 500-capacity club – its first official venue in the city since its previous Ancoats home closed in 2017.

The opening weekend for the new Sankeys Manchester is scheduled for Friday 30 and Saturday 31 January 2026, and following the launch, Sankeys Saturdays will take place every Saturday (from 7 February), including a monthly residency from Tribal Sessions.

As a press release put it, visitors to the new Sankeys can expect ‘a stripped-back, intimate feel with its iconic LED matrix grid installation that will immerse clubbers in light, sound and atmosphere.’

Over the years, Sankeys, which was voted best club in the world in 2010, has hosted performances by The Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk, Jamie Jones, The Martinez Brothers, Solomun and others, and the new club will ‘carry this torch forward’, featuring both up and coming and established names.

“What we’re creating is an intimate underground club with a chill out room,” commented David Vincent, creative director. “We will only be open one night a week on the Saturday. There will be no VIP or phones allowed on the dancefloor – everyone is a VIP. People need to stop taking pictures and start dancing to the beat.”

Tickets for the opening weekend go on sale on Friday 28 November, via www.sankeysofficial.com.
