Berlin-based label Disco Halal, founded by DJ and producer Moscoman, has announced details of a forthcoming compilation to mark its tenth anniversary.
The compilation, The First Ten Years Vol. 1, will be released on 14 November on vinyl and digital, having already been released on Bandcamp.
As Moscoman said of the compilation, it marks both a summation of the label’s work to date, and its plans for the future.
“Disco Halal hails from beneath the minarets of the Holy Land,” he said. “The resonant sound drifted forth, across the continents, washing up at last, upon the shores of Berlin, gathering kaleidoscopic fragments of found Middle Eastern sounds and fractured European rhythms, all along the way.
“A celebration of a world without frontiers, Disco Halal is the celebrated cosmic vibration of forever unity.”
Over the years the label has released tracks by Acid Arab, Simple Symmetry, Polocorp and others, not to mention Moscoman himself, with the forthcoming compilation featuring work from Wallace, Joseph Ashworth, Simple Symmetry, Zakir, SX2, Tunnelvisions and more, championing a sound that’s part indie dance, part house, part nu-disco, and part electronic experimentation.
“Disco Halal was for people that didn’t have a room to speak yet – and now they do,” Moscoman added.
The label’s 10-year celebration will also include a series of special editions and limited releases, as well as forthcoming performances worldwide.
