20/20 Vision is continuing its 30th-anniversary celebrations with the unveiling of the second instalment in its Full Circle series.
Following on from the first volume, which featured tracks by Christian Löffler, Tuccillo, Art of Tones, and Wulf n Bear, Full Circle Vol. Two highlights tracks and reworkings by label co-founder Carl Finlow, also known as Random Factor.
The highlight is arguably the opening track – a remix of Ricardo Villalobos’ Easy Lee, which was originally released on his 2003 debut album Alcachofa.
‘What is less commonly known is that Ralph Lawson [20/20 Vision co-founder] had heard Easy Lee at fabric prior to release and it had blown his mind to the extent that he’d begun talks with Playhouse to release the track on 20/20 Vision and commissioned a Random Factor remix, but was ultimately unsuccessful in bringing the track to the Leeds based label,’ as a press release puts it.
‘So, the remix sat gathering dust for over two decades, despite Lawson and Finlow knowing it was gold dust – before Full Circle created the perfect opportunity to finally release it to the world. Ricardo gave his blessing, and the rest will be history…’
Other tracks on the release are all reworkings of Random Factor originals, including a Bobby. remix of the track Lockdown, a Hardway Bros take on the track Digitize, and Craig Richards contributing a remix of Convergence.
fabric London resident Richards has been a longstanding supporter of Finlow’s output, as well as the 20/20 Vision label, since its foundation.
In addition to the release, 20/20 Vision is continuing its live events series, with upcoming shows at HIFI Leeds on 8 November with Crazy P, Ralph Lawson, and PBR Streetgang, and Refuge New York on 15 November with Chez Damier, Ralph Lawson, and John Tejada.
Last week saw a two-room takeover at fabric on 25 October, which featured Random Factor live alongside Lawson, Voigtmann, Liquid Earth, Make A Dance, and B.Love.
