Floorplan are set to helm the next ‘fabric presents’ mix, which is set for release on 28 November.
The Detroit duo, comprised of Robert Hood and his DJ/producer daughter Lyric Hood, have released a single to precede the release of the mix, You’re A Shining Star, which is out now.
Robert Hood is no stranger to fabric, having played more than 20 sets in the London venue’s Room 2 over the years, including a live session on New Year’s Eve 2012. In 2008, Hood released fabric presents Robert Hood #39, which is among one of the most revered mixes in the series.
Floorplan was initially established in 1996 by Robert Hood as an outlet to explore a wider range of musical influences beyond minimal techno. In 2014, following the release of the album Paradise, Floorplan became a family affair, as Lyric Hood joined her father to perform and record under the Floorplan name. Together they released the co-produced album Victorious on M-Plant in 2016 and have since performed internationally as a duo.
The new single, You’re A Shining Star, is described as boasting ‘a steady, rousing beat, layers of sparky percussion spiced with synth riffs, until the funky, gospel-flavoured, mixed choir vocal assertively kicks in […] A powerfully-built wall of uplifting dance-fuel.’
