Kormac has announced a forthcoming new single, Hazy, which he says is inspired by past nights out in Dublin city.
The single, which follows on from recent release Down Below, is set to come out on Always The Sound on 3 October, and takes its cue from Kormac’s first experiences of club culture – not just the music, but the ‘journeys between venues, the faces in the crowd, and the fleeting camaraderie that made the city feel alive’.
“I started DJing very shortly after I started going to clubs,” Kormac explains. “At the time Dublin was small and blaggable, full of weekly nights with residents who really knew their craft. We’d move between venues – my first real exposure to proper house music – and the best parts were often the moments on the street in between.”
It’s the ninth release on Kormac’s Always The Sound imprint, and is part of his new live AV show, which blends live electronics and custom 3D visuals.
With three albums, scoring work for film and television (BBC, Sky, ITV, Disney+), and over 80 million streams under his belt, Kormac has built a career moving between DJ roots, widescreen electronica and cinematic composition. His most recent long player, Equivalent Exchange, paired orchestral arrangements with Irish voices, including Loah, Jafaris and Stephen James Smith, and its release was a accompanied by a sold-out gig at Dublin’s National Concert Hall.
Kormac – Hazy is released on 3 October. You can pre-order it here.
