Music fundraiser for Optimo’s JD Twitch set to take place in Glasgow

Glasgow‘s Queen’s Park Arena is set to host a live music fundraiser on Sunday 20 July for Keith McIvor, also known as Optimo’s JD Twitch, who is currently facing serious health challenges.

The event, which originally was planned by McIvor to raise funds for Glasgow NW Foodbank, will also now support his treatment and care, while still honouring the original foodbank donation.

Artists set to appear include Isa Gordon, Tony Morris, the Semispecific Ensemble, and GK Machine, all of whom are connected to McIvor and the wider Optimo community.

McIvor recently shared details of his diagnosis, an untreatable brain tumour, and has been met with an outpouring of support from across the music community.

A Crowdfunder launched to support his treatment has already surpassed its initial goal, and remains open due to ongoing uncertainty around care costs. Any excess funds will be shared among Glasgow NW Foodbank, the Coalition for Racial Equality and Rights, Brains Trust, and Taki’s Shelter in Crete.

“Optimo has been our spiritual home for so many of us for decades,” commented Chet Capkiner, director of inhouse CIC at Queens Park Arena. “Keith’s presence and influence changed many lives – including mine. This is a chance for us to return that care and energy, and to support him and his family when it matters most. A true musical mentor and inspiration to us all”

Tickets for the event are available here. Separately, the official Crowdfunder – the primary channel for raising direct funds for his ongoing care and access to therapies – is available here. Photo by Marissa Costello.
