Booka Shade have announced the return of their high-energy side project, YARUBA, with a new release, EP Three, set to land on 27 June on Blaufield Music.
The release marks the first YARUBA material in nearly six years and follows closely on the heels of the duo’s recent album For Real and an accompanying European tour.
Originally unveiled in the mid-2010s, YARUBA operates as a separate outlet for the German duo – aka Walter Merziger and Arno Kammermeier – allowing them to explore ‘more groove-driven, club-ready productions’, according to a press release. Arguably the biggest track to be released under their YARUBA guise is Black Cow, which came out in 2015.
With EP Three, the pair continue this exploration of stripped-back, energised music, across two tracks, Get Funky, Henri and In Trancit.
‘Together, they capture the raw, kinetic energy that defined YARUBA’s early output, while hinting at the new sonic directions the project may explore,’ as a press release put it, adding that the new EP ‘marks the next chapter in Booka Shade’s multifaceted career – bridging the past and present with music made for movement’.
Booka Shade pres. YARUBA – EP Three drops via Blaufield Music on 27 June 2025.
