Canadian minimal trio Cobblestone Jazz have unveiled a new EP, Generations, on ITISWHATITIS Records.
The three-track EP was recorded at Freedom Engine Studios in Berlin, in between legs of their European tour last year. This was their final session at the studio before its relocation to Lisbon.
The three-track EP is led by Generations, a track that ‘captures the group’s improvisational chemistry and sonic range’, according to a press release, as well as showcasing the expressive depth of the PPG Wave synthesiser.
The B-side leads with The Whipper, which was previously road-tested in Mathew Jonson’s solo live sets, while Generations (Version) is a concise reworking of the title track.
All three tracks are written and produced by Cobblestone Jazz – aka Danuel Tate, Mathew Jonson and Tyger Dhula – while the EP features cover art by ITISWHATITIS Recordings’ resident artist Ross Peasant.
