#MyRecordBag – Adiel and Quest’s 90s top techno selections

Adiel and Quest

Italian artist Adiel is set to go back-to-back with long-time friend Quest at Time Warp this weekend, and ahead of the festival, 909originals is delighted to catch up with the pair for the latest in the #MyRecordBag series.

Earlier this year, Adiel unveiled a collaboration with Guinean singer/percussionist Falle Nioke on the single Bolingo Malenbè, on [PIAS], with an EP to follow this year (a second single is due in the coming weeks), while Quest continues to go from strength to strength with his La Nota del Diablo label.

Ahead of their set at Time Warp, which sees them wrap up proceedings on Floor 4, Adiel and Quest serve up their top 90s techno selections.

The Future Sound of London – Accelerator

Adiel: “Immersing myself in the ethereal soundscapes of Accelerator sparked a new perception of what electronic music could be; it was like painting with sound, influencing my creative journey deeply.”

Pajama Party – Over and Over

Adiel: “The irresistible energy of Over and Over always brings back memories of lively dance floors, where the spirit of the late 80s and early 90s house music was palpable and inviting.”

Basil Hardhaus 2 – Make Me Dance

Adiel: “The pulsing beats and uplifting rhythm of Make Me Dance never fail to ignite a passion in me, serving as a timeless reminder of the house music community’s enduring vibrancy and unity.”

Bradley Strider – Bradley’s Beat

Quest: “A track driven by distorted drum machine loops, squelchy 303 basslines, and a lo-fi aesthetic, the track embodies the DIY rave energy of the early 90s.”

DJ Assault – The Return Of Terrortec

Quest: “This track is the definition of devil music, embracing a dark vampiresque sound that goes wild on the dancefloor.”

Silicium – Trans Mutation EP

Quest: “This EP has it all – deep dreamy bass, 909 hats, birds, acid, bells… truly a magic piece of art.”

Ambient Minds – Untitled

Quest: “Classic fast-paced acid cut track straight from the 90s UK underground, blending obscure rhythms and a warehouse feel.”
