Amsterdam-based DJ and producer RAYZIR has developed a sound that blends groove-laden house music with a flavour of deep, tribal tech, and no more is this evident than on his new release, the Guacamolly EP.
Released on The Martinez Brothers’ label, Cuttin Headz, the EP mixes tribal beats with ripples of acid, and is out now across digital platforms.
As well as his productions for the likes of Elrow, Nervous, and Do Not Sleep, RAYZIR is the founder of ZIRCLE, a label and community initiative dedicated to exploring cultural identity within the electronic music sphere. His music has earned support from the likes of Marco Carola, Jamie Jones, Michael Bibi, and Loco Dice, while recent performances have seen him take to the decks at Elrow, Straf_Werk, and Thuishaven, to name but a few.
For the latest #MyRecordBag, RAYZIR serves up a playlist of ‘housey grooves with cultural elements’. Over to you, RAYZIR!
Horseshoe – Collage
“I have to start with this one because it was one of the first tracks that truly captured the house essence for me. The groove, the offbeat claps, the hypnotic flow, and the way the elements slowly evolve make it such a deep and timeless piece. It’s one of those tracks that take you on a journey, and every time I play it, I feel like I’m right back in that moment when I first fell in love with house music. Whether I drop it in a warm-up set or a late-night session, it always brings the perfect vibe. Pure class.”
KiRiK – Tvoja Ljubav
“This one has such a strong energy; the melody and vibe it brings to my set are just amazing. There’s something about the way the bassline rolls with those vocals and the percussions that make it impossible to stand still. It’s deep, groovy, and hypnotic in all the right ways. Every time I play it, I can see the crowd lock into the rhythm, which is always a special moment. It’s one of those tracks that I always have ready when I need to take things up a notch.”
Raumakustik – Dem A Pree (Patrick Topping Remix)
“An absolute weapon in my sets. This track has been around for years, but it still goes off every single time. There’s something about the infectious groove with that vocal and those driving bass stabs that just make people lose it. I love pulling this one out at the right moment when I need to inject a burst of energy into the dancefloor. It’s one of those tracks that proves why house and tech house are so timeless.”
Lashout – Keep Up
“This is one of my go-to tracks for the earlier slots or when I want to give the set a bit of space to breathe. It’s smooth, groovy, and has just the right balance of energy and deepness. Some tracks hit you in the face, but this one sneaks up on you and locks you into a vibe. It’s a proper warm-up track, but one that still has enough movement to keep the energy flowing. Definitely one of my favourites for setting the mood just right.”
Argy – Tutti Frutti
“What a sexy tune. That bassline, those vocals, and the entire groove, it all just shouts ‘damn!’ Cuttin’ Headz is one of those labels that consistently puts out heat, and this track is no exception. It’s playful yet driving, minimal yet full of attitude. When I drop this one, I always see heads turning, and people start moving in a different way—it’s got that slick, confident energy to it.”
Shinedoe – Phunk (Steve Angello Re-Edit)
“This one is a true secret weapon. It’s one of those tracks that, no matter the crowd, no matter the moment, it just works. The bassline is powerful, the groove is tight, and it has that undeniable energy that keeps people locked in. Steve Angello reworked this one into something truly special, giving it a bit more drive while keeping its raw essence. Every time I play it, I see the reaction on the dancefloor, and it never disappoints.”
Reelow, Paco Wegmann – Blaster
“When I need to keep the energy high and the crowd moving, this is my go-to. It’s fast, punchy, and relentless in the best way. Some tracks build tension slowly, but this one just goes straight for the kill. I love how it cuts through the mix and creates that moment in the set where everything just clicks. If I want to go full-throttle and keep the crowd on their toes, this is the track I pull out.”
Zamoras feat. Flaco – Until Sunrise
“This track is a contemporary banger. Not just because it’s an incredible tune but also because it’s made by my boys from Venezuela. The melody and groove on this one are so infectious, and it has that timeless quality where you know it’ll still sound just as good 10 years from now. It’s deep, emotional, and full of warmth—everything I love in house music.”
Thomas Bangalter – What To Do
“One half of Daft Punk, but this is a hidden gem. I remember hearing Benny Rodrigues play this when I was sneaking into clubs at 15, and it completely blew my mind. It’s so simple, yet it has this hypnotic quality that makes it unforgettable. Every time I hear that loop, I get transported back to that time when I was just discovering the deeper side of house and techno. A defining track for me, both personally and musically.”
Yussef Dayes – Gelato
“Ending the list with something a little different – a jazz-infused masterpiece by one of the greatest drummers of our time in my opinion. Yussef Dayes has this way of blending jazz with modern rhythms in a way that feels so organic and alive. The afro rhythms, the groove, the musicianship—it’s pure magic. This album, in general, is something I always go back to when I want to reset my ears and find inspiration outside of dance music. It’s a reminder that groove exists in every genre, not just in house and techno.”
