A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to raise funds for ghetto house legend DJ Funk, who is terminally ill with cancer.
The Chicago native, who through his Ghetto House Anthems and Booty House Anthems albums, and releases on Dance Mania and Pro-Jex, helped light the touchpaper for the frenetic, bass-heavy genre, is ‘now facing the heartbreaking reality of planning for his final farewell,’ the campaign message reads.
‘He has been bravely battling stage 4 cancer and now doesn’t have much longer left. We are raising $10,000 to cover funeral arrangements and give him the tribute he deserves. This is a challenging time for the family and any support you can provide whether through donations or sharing this post would mean the world to us.’
You can access the GoFundMe campaign here.
Long-time compatriot DJ Slugo posted an emotional video on Instagram to raise awareness of the campaign, adding that Funk’s health is ‘touch and go’, and the DJ could pass away ‘at any moment’.
