The Warehouse Project launches new record label, WHP Records

The Warehouse Project, which since its emergence in the mid 2000s has become a fixture of Manchester nightlife, has launched a new record label, in partnership with independent label group, Disorder.

The first release on the label comes from Leeds-based DJ/producer Bakey, a WHP resident for 2024 and will be dropping his debut album via the label. The first track from that project, Wouldn’t Believe, is released on WHP Records on Friday 19 July.

“Since WHP started in 2006, our passion has been to work with artists in a meaningful, impactful way and create these once in a lifetime dancefloor moments,” commented Warehouse Project founders Richard McGinnis and Sam Kandel.

“With the advent of WHP Records and the partnership with Disorder we unlock a whole new way of doing that and this album project from Bakey feels like exactly the right place to start.”

Disorder Records was launched last year by David Dollimore, the former president of Ministry of Sound, in partnership with Capitol Music Group US chairman and CEO Tom March. The first single on the label was Disclosure’s She’s Gone, Dance On, which garnered more than 20 million streams in its first month.

Commenting on the launch of WHP Records, Dollimore said, “WHP Records will serve as the incubator for emerging and exciting talent from around the world, creating a powerful ecosystem where live will feed into recordings and building fans.

“The pedigree surrounding this partnership is unrivalled within the industry and I am excited for the future of independent record companies like ours.”
