Canadian imprint Secret Weapon Records is marking its return this April, with a new release by Ibiza-based DJ and producer Greta Levska.
The single, Operator Baby, is set for release on 10 April, and is backed by a DMX Krew remix.
The relaunch of the label, founded in the early 2000s by DJ and producer Mark Quail, is being overseen by Get Physical Music. During its initial tenure, the label developed a reputation for raw, hypnotic productions embedded in the underground scene in Southwestern Ontario and beyond.
‘Secret Weapon Records developed a reputation among DJs and collectors for its uncompromising approach to techno,’ as a press release put it. ‘Its releases embodied a functional yet forward-thinking sound that resonated deeply within underground dance music culture.’
In bringing the label back to life, Get Physical has pledged to ‘preserve the spirit that defined its original vision’, and keep the underground alive for a new generation of listeners.
