UFO95’s new album is inspired by Brutalist architecture

French producer UFO95 has announced details of his new album, which is set to land on 6 February on Bas Mooy’s MORD Records.

The Brussels-based musician, also known as Killian Vaissade, said that the album, entitled ‘A Brutalist Dystopian Society’ Part 2, is “functional, imposing and tough”, reflecting the architecture that inspired it.

“I’m drawn to the minimalism, the weight, and the darkness it carries”, he said. “I tried to translate this aesthetic into sound – something dark, dramatic, and stripped-back to the essentials.”

As a press release put it, the album ‘radiates the excitement and adventure of a high-octane nocturnal zoom through a cityscape, with a high-focus, 3D-wraparound immersion that’s as engrossing for home listening as it is for the club’.

UFO95 has largely focused exclusively on performing live rather than DJing, earning him a residency at Berlin’s Tresor, as well as appearances at Berghain, Berlin Atonal, Bassiani, and Basement NY, among others. He has released music on Tresor, WSNWG, MORD, and TSSRCT, the latter of which he co-runs with Hadone.

To coincide with the album’s release, UFO95 has announced a series of live shows, taking in stops in Berlin, Barcelona, Brussels, Milan, Miami, Medellin, Buenos Aires and Paris during January and February of this year.

UFO95 – ‘A Brutalist Dystopian Society’ Part 2 is set to be released on vinyl, download and streaming platforms on 6 February, on MORD.
