Ibiza-based house pair Laura & Santiago have announced details of their new single, Juna, which is set to land on 24 July on their own Creature Mode imprint.
The husband-and-wife duo, formerly known as Lovely Laura & Ben Santiago, have previously released on labels such as Nervous and Todd Terry’s Freeze Records, and are holding down summer residencies at Pikes Ibiza, 528 Ibiza and Café Mambo, as well as appearing across the UK and Europe.
Juna features vocals from NANDI, an artist that Santiago met via a chance encounter at Ibiza Airport: “My hairs stood on end when I first heard her vocals. We freshened up the drums, changed the bassline, and voila!” You can pre-order Juna here.
For this week’s #MyRecordBag, Laura & Santiago present their top ten horn house classics. Or to put it another way… kiss my brass!
The Detroit Experiment – Think Twice
“Let’s kick things off nice and easy. What a trumpet beauty this is from The Detroit Experiment. The Henrik Schwarz Remix is also really special and worth checking out, but we prefer the chords on this one.”
Gypsymen – Babarabatiri
“Todd ‘The God’ Terry doing damage here. Proper Latino horns.”
Marco Lys, Laura & Santiago – Real Love
“You’re spoilt for choice when trying to pick a Marco Lys horn record. It’s tough to think of another producer who loves a horn so much and has repeatedly done it so well. For some reason, we chose this one!”
ItalosBros – Gosadera
“Dropped on Hot Creations in 2024, this has been getting hammered in all of our sets ever since!”
Tiptoes – Let Go
“Absolutely our favourite producer at the moment. We’re loving everything he puts out. Check this track out – it’s perfection.”
Joeski, Héctor Lavoe – Dia De Ayer (Extended Mix)
“Never ever fails!”
Yello – The Race (Schmutz Edit)
“Incredible edit of a pop track. Cheeky AF, but it absolutely blows up the dancefloor when it drops.”
Teddy Wong – Jazzy Hands
“Jacking jazzy house vibes – get on the end of this!”
DJ Gregory – Damelo
“Another Latino horn classic from none other than DJ Gregory. Makes me wish I’d paid more attention in those salsa classes, haha.”
Dam Swindle – That’s Right
“An absolutely beautiful trumpet solo in the middle of a beautiful, blissed-out summer jam.”
The Believers, Roy Davis Jr. – Who Dares To Believe In Me? (Original Mix)
“Let’s end on a classic… New York legend George Morel meets Chicago legend Roy Davis Jr., and along comes Steve Graeber on sax to add a solo that is pure magic. Released on Strictly Rhythm in 1993 and still doing damage to this day. We’ve all seen the video of Dennis Ferrer dropping this in his B2B with The Martinez Brothers, right? How could this possibly not make the list?”
