Soma Records announce return of ‘Soma Skool’ this September

Soma Records, operated by techno heavyweights Slam, has announced the return of ‘Soma Skool‘ this September, which will see a host of DJs, producers and industry professionals gather for a day of exclusive masterclasses and panels.

Taking place on 3 September at SWG3, Glasgow (tickets available here), featured panels will include Underground Glasgow, discussing the Scottish city’s underground scene; an Accessible Clubbing panel examining how to make clubs more accessible to people with disabilities; and an Artists Panel which will invite some of the worlds biggest techno artists to discuss what catalysed their own success.

Masterclasses on offer include the Subsine Ableton Masterclasses; a series of demos from Pioneer DJ; and a number of industry workshops on mastering, artist agent seminars and music journalism hosted by Resident Advisor.

The event will culminate with a Maximum Pressure afterparty, featuring Slam, Héctor Oaks, KlangKuenstler and LISALÖÖF. Tickets for that are available here.

“We are very happy to be bringing back Soma Skool with Creative Scotland, which for the first time in its 17 year history will be a virtual and physical event,” commented Rosie Shannon, Soma Skool project manager.

“During the pandemic there was record growth in people at home buying DJ and producer software and hardware, but a lack of physical education to learn. Soma Skool is here to help bridge that gap. This is a fantastic opportunity to get up close and personal with some of your favourite DJ’s and producers and learn from the best! At Soma Records we look forward to putting this event on every year and seeing fresh talent come through because of it.”

Soma has been running the Soma Skool since 2003, as a platform to support the next generation of electronic music DJs and producers.
