The recently-launched Dance Music Archive is taking to the airwaves, with the launch of a new weekly show on Kisstory on Sunday evenings, from 7-9pm.
The show, helmed by the Dance Music Archive’s Andi Durrant, will dig into the DNA of the best dance music of the last 30 years – from all-time anthems to forgotten classics, covering house, trance, techno, garage, drum & bass and everything in between.
Two years in the making, the Dance Music Archive is now a hugely popular website, bringing together 30 years of electronic music history through DJ mixes, live sets, flyers, festival broadcasts, lost tapes, blogs, artwork, magazines and forgotten recordings.
We spoke to Andi Durrant back in August about how the concept came together.
The site, which launched during the summer, is also showcasing exclusive content – a recent content drop saw 20 year old live recordings from Underworld, Tiesto, Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk and many more resurface, under the title ‘Gatecrasher – The Lost Tapes’.
“I’m very excited to be back as part of the Kiss family for the Dance Music Archive,” Durrant commented. “It’s been incredible to see something that started in my spare bedroom as a bit of fun grow into such a great resource for the electronic music scene.
“The archive was created out of pure love for the music and culture, so it’s a real honour to be allowed two hours of airtime every Sunday for me to dig really deep into the last 30 years of incredible music. Alongside playing loads of tracks that people know and love, I hope we can help fans rediscover some amazing stuff they might have forgotten, or are hearing for the first time.”
