Joris Voorn is set to release a new remix of Dave Clarke’s classic Wisdom to the Wise, initially part of the techno baron’s Red series.
The remix will be released digitally on 9 October, followed by a vinyl release on 13 November, on Voorn’s label Spectrum Music. It will the 100th release on the label.
Clarke originally released Wisdom to the Wise in 1994, with Voorn’s remix retaining elements of the original track while introducing new production and synthesiser work.
As a press release put it, the ‘drums roll deep and heavy, with widescreen metallic chords rattling over the punchy grooves and tension building through sleek pads and glitchy percussive textures. It’s a masterclass in restraint that gradually washes over the entire dance floor with a warm, soulful wall of Detroit-referencing synths’.
Dutch DJ and producer Voorn has remixed everyone from Underworld to Röyksopp to Dua Lipa and Vintage Culture over the years, and has released on his own Rejected, Green and Spectrum labels over the past 20 years.
