Belfast-based producer, DJ and label founder Martha Dark has unveiled her latest release, Emotion (Detroit Mix), a dark, atmospheric techno track on her own imprint, Your Utopia My Dystopia (YUMD).
It’s her first release on the label she launched earlier this year, and is built around a brooding bassline, pulsing synth work and industrial textures, gradually layering tension and atmosphere before unfolding into a driving, hypnotic groove.
The release embodies the YUMD manifesto – a label dedicated to raw, forward-thinking electronic music aimed at those seeking substance over social media trends.
Having spent some time in London, Martha Dark recently returned to her native Belfast, where she has build a reputation for blending deep house, Chicago house, deep tech and melodic techno, drawing inspiration from artists including K-Hand, Derrick May, Floorplan and Daft Punk.
As a producer, she has released on labels such as Basement Discos, Lisztomania Records and 4th Set Records. Her debut single, Promise, was featured on Traxsource’s Best of Summer Hype list, while further releases are scheduled for labels including Sundries and House Salad Music.
At the start of 2026, she founded Your Utopia My Dystopia as a ‘platform to push creative and forward-thinking house sounds’, with the debut release on the label coming from Irish producer Tree Threes – the track Come Back.
Alongside her production work, she recently co-founded the Belfast house music event series Project 5 with Bang Bike. Its debut event, held as part of the Sound of Belfast Festival, sold out within six days.
