AVA Belfast has announced the first tranche of artists for its forthcoming 2025 festival, with Underworld, Overmono, Ewan McVicar, KI/KI, Job Jobse, and VTSS among those set to appear.
AVA Belfast 2025, which takes place 30 and 31 May at Titanic Slipways in Belfast, looks set to build on its landmark 10th anniversary edition last year, which welcomed more than 10,000 attendees and featured over 70 local and international artists.
As well as a comprehensive music lineup, this year’s edition will feature an arts-focused programme that will feature storytelling, music tours of the city, installations, and various workshops – details of these will be announced in due course.
“AVA 2025 will be a step change for the festival and AVA. Creativity and community have never been more important,” commented Sarah McBriar, founder and creative director, AVA. “Spaces for people to freely dance, connect and express themselves without judgement are crucial, and we plan to bring the best environment for artists and audiences alike.”
Other big names announced in the first wave include 999999999, Tommy Holohan, DART, Sam Alfred, Bashkka, Spray, and a debut performance from Tokyo’s Minna-no-kimochi (みんなのきもち), a post-trance collective known for their Boiler Room sets.
“This year we are excited to bring iconic duo Underworld to AVA on the 30th anniversary of Born Slippy and surround them with so much exciting and upcoming talent, featuring 10 artists making their Belfast debuts,” added Emmett Costello, AVA senior curator.
“Supporting Irish talent has always been a key focus for us, so having artists like Tommy Holohan, Sally C, Spray, EMA, Sloucho, and Kessler involved in the lineup is something we are proud of.”
