#MyRecordBag – CASSIMM’s most inspirational house tracks

London-based, Italian-born DJ CASSIMM has built a reputation for upfront house music on labels such as Defected, Toolroom, Snatch, Glasgow Underground, Armada and Soulfuric, helping him become the second-biggest selling house artist on Beatport last year.

Currently in the middle of a summer tour that is taking in events in Spain, Italy, Croatia, Malta, the UK and more, CASSIMM took time out of his busy schedule to take part in 909originals’ #MyRecordBag series, sharing ten house tracks that helped inspire his sound.

Mark Knight & Funkagenda – Man With The Red Face (Original Mix)

“Just a masterpiece. The years keep going by, but this sounds as fresh as if it was made yesterday.”

Antoine Clamaran – Take Off (Original Mix)

“This track reminds me of when I was recording my first sets in my bedroom. I loved that period of my life – everything was new and there was a lot to learn.”

Thomas Bangalter – Colossus

“French DJs really knew how to make proper house bangers in the early 2000’s. Epic moments on this one, happy memories.”

Moodymann – Dem Young Sconies

“This was the opening track that would start the night when I was a resident DJ. You can still play this, I’m sure it will go off!”

Chicken Lips – He Not In

“God knows how much I loved this ‘electro’ era. I was coming from soulful and vocal house when I fell in love with this genre. This is one of the best of them – 100%.”

Together – So Much Love To Give

“Back to what I said above….French DJs made the soundtrack of my DJ youth. Happy tears on this one.”

DJ Oji – Esteban (Remastered by DJ Spen)

“This is one of the tribal records that inspired me the most and still does, every time I want to produce something more tribal.”

Oxia – Domino

“I could not end the night without spinning this one. And yeah, I still do that nowadays.”

Ronald Christoph – Underground Limbo

“Looking back, there was a window of time when trumpets played a huge part in my sets. This record was really famous, like others out there – but for me was the strongest one.”

DJ Gregory – Tropical Soundclash

“Probably one of the first house records I ever listened to and later became a part of my sets, especially when I wanted to take a trip down memory lane.”
