Kormac announces ‘Equivalent Exchange’, his first album in close to a decade

Over a 15-year career, Irish DJ and producer Kormac has blended hip hop, soundtracks, big band and electronica, and the Dublin native is set to explore similarly sonic territory on his forthcoming new album, Equivalent Exchange.

His first long player since 2014’s Doorsteps, the eight-track album is set to be released on his new imprint, Always the Sound – a collaboration between Kormac, All City Records and CWB Management – on 11 November, with a vinyl edition coming in early 2023.

You can pre-save the album here.

It’s the culmination of three years’ work, with Kormac teaming up with the Irish Chamber Orchestra, as well as a host of vocalists, rappers and left-field musicians including Jafaris, MayKay, Jack O’Rourke, Shahab and Shayan Coohe and Loah.

Ever the musical adventurer, Equivalent Exchange also incorporates a collection of Spatial Audio mixes, three short-form animated videos in production made in Cinema 4D & Octane, Unreal Engine and Blender, and artwork provided by acclaimed street artist, Maser.

According to the press release, the result is an album that is ‘equally as at home on the dancefloor as the big screen’.

Equivalent Exchange is preceded by a single, Carry Weight feat. Loah, which is released on 14 October.

A launch party for the album will take place at The Button Factory, Dublin, on 19 November. More information here.
