Green Velvet’s Relief Records announces US tour

Green Velvet’s Relief Records imprint is closing in on three decades at the forefront of upfront house music and techno, and continues to be one of the most respected dance music labels in the world.

Founded in 1993, the label continues to push boundaries, with an ever-expanding catalogue from both new and established artists – recent releases include cuts from Eli Brown, Federico Ambrosi, Flashmob, and of course the label maestro himself.

At the time of the label’s 25th anniversary back in 2017, Green Velvet gave an interview in which he discussed the period in time in which Relief was formed.

“The blessing of being from Chicago was that we heard a wide spectrum of music,” he explained. “We heard a lot of the new wave stuff that was popping off, and then we had house music. I definitely remember seeing Farley [Jackmaster Funk] because at that time he was probably one of the biggest DJs on the radio, Steve ‘Silk’ Hurley, he would play some warehouse parties. We used to have a lot of backyard barbecue parties – we had boomboxes back then, blasting the boombox.”

This month, a tour to usher in a landmark year for the label kicks off, with two of its current stars, Mihalis Safras and Eskuche flying the flag for theat 11 dates across the US.

Greek producer Mihalis Safras has collaborated with Green Velvet on no less than eight records, including Discogirl, Microwave, Speak To Me and most recently Mon Cheri, and the duo are also planning a series of singles this year.

Eskuche has released four singles on Relief, having first broken through with the track Concentrate in 2018. The two also collaborated on the recent track Feeling Good.

The tour kicks off in Los Angeles on Friday 4 February, and finishes off in Phoenix, Arizona, on 27 February. More information can be found here: www.ReliefRecordsTour.com.
