Soulwax mark 50th DEEWEE release with ‘Foundations’ compilation

Soulwax’s David and Stephen Dewaele have marked the 50th release on their DEEWEEwith Foundations, a compilation marking both the label’s history to date and hinting at its future.

The compilation features 27 tracks, including three new compositions – among the artists featured are Charlotte Adigéry, Movulango, Laima, Bolis Pupil, Asa Moto, Sworn Virgins and the Soulwax lads themselves, among others.

There’s also a cut from the 2manyDJs duo’s recent EMS Synthi 100 album, one of the best pieces of experimental electronica we heard last year.

Commenting on the release of Foundations, the duo issued a statement, noting it features “27 tracks born out of friendships, all produced and mixed by David and Stephen Dewaele at DEEWEE.

“Two songs were recorded in lockdown. One was partially recorded on an island. One artist is a machine we currently don’t have access to. One act is unquantified (unless you’ve been to a DEEWEE Night). One sample was cleared.”

Foundations is available in triple LP and 2CD physical editions, along with a digital format, by clicking here or the image below.
