Belgian techno queen set to take over Brussels landmark…

Techno tends to crop up in the strangest places these days – after all, it’s only a few weeks since Dave Clarke, Ben Klock and Marcel Dettman played the Great Wall of China.  

Next Monday, Amelie Lens continues this trend with a one-of-a-kind set at a Brussels landmark you’re not likely to find in the city’s Lonely Planet guide.

The Belgian techno queen is set to play The Atomium, the iconic Brussels landmark originally built for the Brussels World’s Fair in 1958, where it was established to promote ‘a world for a better life for mankind’.

Comprised of nine stainless steel-clad spheres, all of which are interconnected, it’s as Belgian as Delirium Tremens and Manneken Pis (sadly unavailable for a support slot!), and should provide the perfect backdrop for an exceptional techno event.

The event is being hosted by Cercle, a French cultural media platform that has already put on events in many unexpected locations, including the Palace of Fontainebleau, Tahiti in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, the Roman Theatre of Orange and even the Eiffel Tower.

Every other Sunday, Cercle highlights an artist with an exclusive a performance broadcast from a surprising venue.

It all kicks off next Monday at 6.30pm, with Lens set to take to the decks at 9pm.

The live performance will be followed by an interview on Facebook Live, where users will be able to ask her questions.

Lens has been busy in recent months, releasing her début album on Pan-Pot’s imprint Second State, followed by an EP on underground label ARTS. She’s also launched her own event platform, EXHALE, and a record label, Lenske.
