Exeter-based producer Krissi Ray has released Beams, a single that draws on the underground techno and house scenes of the late 1990s and early 2000s.

A self-taught producer who works from her home studio, Ray produced, mixed and mastered the track herself, maintaining complete control at each stage of the creative process.

Beams combines melodic, raw, industrial and minimal techno elements, with warm, punchy kicks and basslines that pay homage to her underground influences, while also offering listeners an uncompromised vision of contemporary techno craftsmanship.

Released on 24 July, it reflects Ray’s focus on creating immersive electronic beats and experimenting with layered and textured sounds.

Commenting on her artistic journey, she said, “Escaping reality isn’t running away. Sometimes it’s how we find ourselves”. It’s a philosophy that permeates her immersive sonic explorations.

Krissi Ray – Beams is out now.
