Bloop Groop announces details of latest Dublin gathering

Bloop Groop, the Dublin community dedicated to electronic musicians, producers, visual artists and music enthusiasts, has announced details of its next gathering, at The Digital Hub in Dublin 8 on Saturday 20 June.

Bloop Groop, the Dublin community dedicated to electronic musicians, producers, visual artists and music enthusiasts, has announced details of its next gathering, at The Digital Hub in Dublin 8 on Saturday 20 June.

The event, which runs from 5.30pm to 9pm, will see around ten short sets from electronic musicians, ranging from newcomers to more experienced performers.

It will also play host to a new feature, the Modular Mind Meld, a collaborative performance involving six or seven modular synthesiser artists, which will see participants synchronise their systems to a shared clock signal and create a collective live piece.

Bloop Groop is designed around a flexible format, with attendees invited to bring equipment, set up alongside other musicians, and spend the evening exchanging ideas, discussing gear and experimenting with collaborative music-making. No prior experience or specialist equipment is required, and the organisers are expecting between 80 and 90 to be in attendance.

It’s also BYOB, so if you fancy knocking back a glass of Pinot or two to some warped electronica, this is the place for you.

Alongside its live events programme, Bloop Groop is also preparing for its first music release: a compilation of tracks from participants at previous events.

As the organisers note, ‘We’re being the change we want to see in Dublin: making diverse, fun, stimulating events full of joy and creativity, to encourage people aged 18 to 65 from different backgrounds to hang out and support each other achieving our musical goals, and connect around something bigger than each of us: making music.’
