Having been forced to depart from Serbia due to what organisers said was government pressure linked to its public positions, EXIT Festival will hold its 2026 edition in Montenegro, across two events.
The first event will take place in July on Long Beach in Ulcinj, with the second seeing the return of the Sea Dance Festival in Budva. More details on both will be released soon.
“Montenegro is one of Europe’s best-kept secrets,” commented Dušan Kovačević, CEO and founder of EXIT Festival group. “With its stunning nature and vibrant Adriatic coastline, it has everything it takes to become a landmark destination for a new generation of travellers who live for combining world-class holidays with unforgettable live music experiences.
“EXIT was built on the belief that music and freedom go hand in hand, and we are delighted to bring this spirit to this beautiful country, building a lasting legacy together.”
The festival has also received support from Milojko Spajić, prime minister of Montenegro, who said that the events are expected to attract visitors from more than 100 countries, resulting in around 210,000 overnight stays and more than €40 million in tourism revenue during 2026.
“The EXIT to Montenegro project will bring two major festivals to our country, making Montenegro an epicentre of the global music scene this summer and delivering exceptional international promotion for our coastline,” he said.
EXIT’s festival network includes events in Croatia and Malta, while it also previously staged a multi-day event at the Pyramids of Giza, in Egypt. Under its World Tour initiative, launched following government pressure in its native Serbia, the festival plans to host further events in other locations.
In January, it won the Promoter of the Year award at the European Festival Awards in Groningen, while it is a winner of three previous Best Major Festival titles at the European Festival Awards and UK Festival Awards.
