Matador unveils new EP, ‘Easy Up’, alongside Kyozo

Irish producer Matador has unveiled the Easy Up EP on his RUKUS label, which sees him tie-up with London-based artist Kyozo.

The four-track release features both an extended and radio mix of Matador and Kyozo’s Easy Up, as well as a solo production from Matador, Another Level, again with an extended and radio mix.

According to a press release for the new EP, the title track is described as ‘an atmospheric and deep roller with soft but firmly rooted kicks and wispy synths’, while Another Level boasts ‘sonar-like blips [that] pulse over the progressive drums while more stark chords light things up with a futuristic twist’.

The release reflects Matador’s evolving catalogue, which has moved from early minimal techno to more layered and melodic styles. Kyozo, meanwhile, is riding high following a recent collaboration with Adam Beyer on Drumcode.

Earlier this year, 909originals’ Emer O’Connor caught up with Matador, in which he talked about his current musical direction.

“I’m kind of in a place now where I’m just going down a rabbit hole myself, musically,” he explained. “I’m the sort of person where, when I’m doing one thing, that’s all I’m doing.” You can read the full interview here.

Matador & Kyoto – Easy Up is out now on Rukus and can be streamed/purchased here.
