Goldie‘s Rufige Kru project, alongside SubMotive, has announced details of a new album, AlphaOmega, which will be released on 16 May.
The first single from the album, Still The Same, is out now, and features CASISDEAD – the first appearance of the Best Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Act winner at the 2024 BRIT Awards on a drum ‘n’ bass track.
The track is backed by an impressive music video, directed by Elliott Gonzo, where Goldie portrays an AI overlord being hunted by CASISDEAD in a dystopian future.
“It was a huge honour to collaborate with these legends in the game,” Gonzo commented on the video. “The freedom and trust I was given meant I could really push the boundaries of what’s possible with new technology, combining animation and virtual production.”
The forthcoming album will consist of 12 tracks, and is described as Rufige Kru’s ‘deepest outing so far’.
“It’s a reinvention,” Goldie said. “We’ve gone back to the source and extrapolated from there. I wanted to create something that absolutely represents what this music is all about … and where it’s going next.”
The Rufige Kru project dates all the way back to 1992, and the hardcore track Darkrider, and Goldie sees the new album as an opportunity to go ‘back to his roots’.
“That’s a beautiful thing for me. I’ve spent a lot of time honing my craft, developing these concepts, assembling all these moments,” he added. “But that sense of possibility – what kept me going in the early days – is still there. I’m still as excited by this music and where it can go as I was all those years ago. The only limit is my imagination.”
Rufige Kru – AlphaOmega is released on 16 May on London Records and can be pre-ordered here. You can download/stream Still The Same here.
