Where were you in the 1990s? The evolution of Dublin nightlife at the tail end of the millennium is the core focus of an exhibition taking place at The Racket Space (The Bernard Shaw basement) in July: ANALOG RHYTHMS – A Celebration of Dublin Club Culture.
Tracking the development of the capital’s club scene during its formative years, ANALOG RHYTHMS will tell the story of pivotal venues such as Sides DC, Temple of Sound, The Ormond, The Pod, Columbia Mills, The Asylum, Temple Theatre, The Kitchen, System, The Funnel, The Furnace and many more – featuring a massive collection of flyers, photos, clippings, memorabilia… and plenty of tales from the dancefloor.
The exhibition, which returns for its second year running, is being curated by award-winning music site 909originals.com, in association with Bodytonic, and will take place from 14 to 16 July at The Racket Space, The Bernard Shaw, Cross Guns Bridge, Drumcondra.
“The 1990s witnessed a profound cultural renaissance in Dublin, with the city’s nightclub industry epitomising its energetic spirit,” says Steve Wynne-Jones, the editor of 909originals.com. “Through ANALOG RHYTHMS, we honour the individuals and establishments that significantly contributed to the scene, establishing Dublin’s reputation as one of Europe’s premier party capitals.”
The exhibition will also see a host of side events, including DJ performances, a panel discussion, the return of ‘acid house bingo’ 🙂 and much more.
