Surgeon, Speedy J, Shxchxchxsh among those getting behind new label supporting Ukrainian charities
Some of techno’s biggest names have lent their support for a new label, Rudiment, the profits from which will be donated to Ukrainian charity organisations.
Described as a ‘Kyiv-Berlin techno and experimental electronica music label’, Surgeon, Speedy J, Shxchxchxsh and Pacou are among those supporting the imprint.
As Kyiv-based artist Stanislav Tolkachev posted on his Facebook page, “The idea for the label was in the making for a long time, peaceful time… and we didn’t think it’s story was going to begin like that. But now we need all possible financial support for the Ukrainian people.
“We are preparing its first release. [which will be] available on Bandcamp. All profits will be donated to official Ukrainian charity organisations.”
As he added, initial releases will be on Bandcamp, with plans to release on vinyl as soon as the conflict is over… which will hopefully be soon.

Elsewhere, techno producer Inigo Kennedy, who 909originals recently had the pleasure of interviewing, has released the Thinking Of UA EP on his Asymmetric imprint – a seven track Bandcamp exclusive release to raise funds towards humanitarian aid in the face of the invasion of Ukraine.
All income from the release will be donated to the UK Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal, Kennedy wrote on Facebook.
“I will contribute an additional amount equal to all the income from the release over the next month,” he added. “The release will be available only in full and includes an instrumental version of the track Trees Fell In Brody, which was recently released via the Ukraine-based label NECHTO Records.
“The track was named as such as my family has roots in Brody (now Ukraine) from where they were displaced and [this] serves as a poignant and personal reminder.”
