Skepta unveils limited-edition ‘Rum of Skepta’

Grime and hip hop artist Skepta has announced the launch of a limited-edition rum, ‘Rum of Skepta’, alongside distillers Havana Club.

Rum of Skepta will be limited to 3,000 bottles, and will be available online and from select retailers in the UK, priced at £85 per bottle (€101).

According to the brand, it marks the first time that Havana Club’s Maestro del Ron Cubano Asbel Morales has worked alongside a musician, to create a spirit ‘designed to appeal to the next generation of rum drinkers with a natural affiliation to rap music and street culture’.

The launch follows on from a visit that the Nigerian rapper made to Cuba in 2019. Prior to the current launch, the distiller unveiled a pair of redesigned Havana Club 7 Rum bottles as part of their collaboration, which featured traditional Nigerian symbols on the label.

Rum of Skepta will also be available in a number of other European countries including Germany, Belgium, Czech Republic, the Netherlands and Spain.

A cinematic short film and photographic series capturing Skepta’s career will accompany the release.

Commenting on the launch, Anne Martin, Global Marketing Director at Havana Club International, said, “As the leading makers of super premium rum, we are incredibly proud to introduce Rum of Skepta.

“We are honoured to once again be working with Skepta, one of the most influential voices of his generation, to drive relevance and credibility with our key consumers on a global scale. Rum of Skepta showcases the artist’s unrivalled success and the extraordinary talents of our Maestros who continue to define the modern-day rum category.”
