My Bloody Valentine, Dopplereffekt, Theo Parrish, Arca and others to curate broadcasts for NTS’ 10-year anniversary
A range of artists including My Bloody Valentine, Dopplereffekt, Theo Parrish, Laurie Anderson, Mica Levi, Arca and others will be curating broadcasts for NTS Radio from 19-23 April, as the channel marks its tenth anniversary.
In total, ten special guest curators will take over NTS during the week-long special, with a mix of guest radio shows, conversations and performances from midday each day.
Monday 19 sees My Bloody Valentine’s Kevin Shields take over NTS Channel 1, with Mica Levi presenting a series of recordings undertaken with friends and collaborators on NTS Channel 2.
On Tuesday 20, NYC activist and meme auteur Patia Borja from Patia’s Fantasy World present six hours of special guest appearances, while Dopplereffekt presents a range of unreleased material on Channel 2.
On Wednesday 21, Arca and celebrated photographer Liz Johnson Artur each curate their own broadcasts; then on Thursday 22 listeners can tune into avant-pop legend Laurie Anderson alongside rising Ghanaian star Amaarae.
The week rounds off with Theo Parrish taking over the controls on NTS Channel 1 on Friday 23, and The Simpsons creator Matt Groening stepping in on NTS Channel 2.
The special guest schedule will seek to raise funds for The Global Foodbanking Network, which ‘unites and empowers organisations that support those in need by reducing food waste and cultivating sustainable relationships that save lives’.
NTS last raised more than $35,000 for The Global Foodbanking Network during the Remote Utopias broadcast in May 2020.
