Check out this video of the Temple Theatre in its early 2000s pomp

Back in the early 2000s, Judge Jules fronted a short-lived travel series aimed at clubbers, entitled Spin Cities, which was broadcast on Play UK.

One of the cities visited by the bespectacled boy wonder was Dublin, and given its important place in the electronic music firmament of the time, the Temple Theatre was an essential port of call.

The clip below shows the venue in its early 2000s heyday, featuring interviews with residents Jay Pidgeon and DJ Orbit, as well as club owner Pat O’Keeffe.

“Every Saturday night, it’s the best club night in Dublin, at the best club in Dublin,” says Pidgeon. “We’ve got 1,800 punters here the majority of weeks, and it’s all hands in the air. It’s a pretty euphoric atmosphere.”

Elsewhere, O’Keeffe sums up what makes the venue so special, “The kids want to have a good time, and it’s a very relaxed door policy.

They come in on a Saturday, have a few drinks, lose themselves for four hours, listen to good music and shout and scream and have a good time. That’s what clubbing’s all about.”

Amen to that! 🙂
