2018 Review: Postcards From 88… The Playlist
A special treat for New Years Eve, as 909originals presents a selection of tracks as chosen by interviewees in our Postcards from 88 series, which ran during the summer.
Inevitably, such is the nature of streaming services such as Spotify, that many of the tracks chosen by our 30+ interviewees can’t be found online, and some of these may not specifically have been released in 1988, either.
But it’s still selection of tunes that takes in everything from Chicago House to Belgian New Beat, and all points in between.

Among the tunes featured are Joe Smooth’s Promised Land (“Amnesia represented a real Promised Land for those that passed through,” says DJ Alfredo); Lil Louis’ French Kiss (“used to send everyone mental on the dancefloor,” says Feral aka MC Kinky); Master C & J’s Dub Love (“still gives me the shivers every time I hear it”, according to Push); Reese & Santonio’s Rock To The Beat (“The first time I played this out, the roof took off!,” says Pete Ward); Fingers Inc’s Music Take Me Up (“It gave machines soul, and being a ‘soul boy’ at heart this sounded like the future to me,” according to Colin Dale); Rhythim Is Rhythim’s Strings Of Life (“the opening bars still make my stomach churn with excitement,” says Sheryl Garratt)… and a lot more besides.
Just the soundtrack you need for your New Years Eve party in other words… or the morning after! 🙂
