THROWBACK THURSDAY: Serge Gainsbourg - Bonnie & Clyde (Herbert's Fred & Ginger Mix) [2002]

Rarely pictured without a ‘Gitanes’ in his mouth (and buxom blonde under his arm), legendary French songwriter Serge Gainsbourg would have turned 90 years old this week…

Back in 2002, some 11 years after his death, Zero 7 (remember them?) paid tribute to the Paris-born artist in the best way they knew how, by including a Matthew Herbert remix of Gainsbourg’s most famous recordings (alongside Brigitte Bardot), Bonnie & Clyde, on their excellent Another Late Night mix album.

The track also made an appearance on a collection of Herbert remixes released the same year, Secondhand Sounds.

So light up that cigarette, pour a large glass of Vin Rouge, and savour this glitch-techno remix of a music legend’s magnum opus.

“Je t’aime… moi non plus”, as they say in France.
